After the Procedure


After LASIK Surgery

  • Follow your normal eating habits.
  • Make an effort to rest or sleep after the operation.
  • If you feel pain, a pain reliever such as aspirin may be used.
  • Protect your eyes with sunglasses when outside.
  • Wear the protective eye shield available from I Care in the evening and when sleeping for the first five days after the procedure.
  • Adhere to the eye drops regime prescribed by your doctor.
  • Return to the clinic for progress checks the following day, at one week, one month, three months, six months, and one year to review your eye health and visual development. These visits are already included in the total cost of the LASIK.
  • You may read the Koran or Bible or watch TV the first day after LASIK, but place limits and do not prolong your reading time..
  • Limit bathing from the neck down and rinse the face gently and carefully. The hair can be washed three days after LASIK.
  • Do not agitate or rub your eyes for at least 2 weeks after LASIK
  • Activities such as swimming, or full-body contact sports such as karate and boxing may be done only one month after LASIK.
  • Do not use mascara, eye-liner, or eye-makeup for at least 3 days.
  • Avoid soaking in warm water in the bathtub for at least 4 weeks.
  • If you have any questions or problems regarding the condition of your eyes anytime after LASIK, please contact our staff or doctors immediately.
  • Each year visit an ophthalmologist, who specializes in the health of the eye and retina, for a routine check-up.
  • Eye Drops That Will Be Given to You After LASIK Surgery:

  • Tobradex Eye Drops. 1-2 drops, 4 times a day, for 10 days
  • Tarivid Eye Drops. 1-2 drops, 4 times a day, for 7 days
  • Hylaid/Cenfresh/Tears Naturale II Eye Drops. 1 drop, 4-6 times a day, for 4-10 weeks.
  • DO NOT INSTILL ALL THE DROPS TOGETHER AT ONE TIME. THERE SHOULD BE AN INTERVAL OF 1-5 MINUTES OF WAITING BEFORE EACH DIFFERENT KIND OF EYE DROP IS INSTILLED IN THE EYE.
